Obtaining a divorce is the process of becoming “unmarried”. You must have been separated 12 months in order to make an application for divorce.

Divorce is a separate process to the division of property and finances and from children’s arrangements.

You do not (and should not) wait 12 months before seeking advice about property and children. Once a divorce is granted, the time for applying for a property division or spousal maintenance becomes limited.

If your divorce matter is straightforward you can apply to the court directly, or we can make the application on your behalf for a fixed fee.

Some divorces are more complex because of your living circumstances or difficulties serving your former partner and we can assist you with those. Please note that fixed fees do not apply for complex divorce matters.
